Collaborative Energy Drives Focus in Cedar Rapids

There is electricity surrounding a new collaboration between area school districts and businesses. A year ago, superintendents and school board presidents from the school districts of Cedar Rapids, College Community, Linn-Mar, Marion Independent, and the Metro Catholic Schools joined forces with the Grant Wood Area Education Agency to propose a major collaborative initiative focused on improving math and science education. The spark was lit!

This group of stakeholders quickly grew to also include the Iowa Business Council, Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Chambers of Commerce, Rockwell Collins, Alliant Energy, the Iowa City School District, the Mount Vernon School District, Kirkwood Community College, Mount Mercy College, the University of Iowa School of Engineering, the Iowa State University Extension, and the Workplace Learning Connection.
